Schenectady City School District discusses $70M proposal

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—The Schenectady City School District will discuss a $70 million proposal on Wednesday that is set to go before voters  in late March.

The referendum would renovate certain schools so they can add grades six through eight by September 2016.

Officials say the project won't have much of an impact on the tax rate -- 95 percent is going to be covered by State Building aid.

On a home that is assessed at $100,000, the most a Schenectady tax payer would pay is a little over one dollar per year.
