ALBANY, N.Y. -- A Colonie resident has been arrested on assault and drug charges.
Deputies were dispatched to Pleasant Street in the Village of Voorheesville for a victim who had been assaulted and slashed in the face with a knife. The suspect had fled the scene and the victim only knew the suspect as "Nick." The altercation stemmed from an earlier incident where the suspect had accused the victim of stealing from him. The Victim was transported to the Hospital, where he was treated and later released.
Investigators located Nicholas Desanctis in a vehicle at Colonie Center and it was occupied by two other males. All parties were detained and brought to the Sheriff's Public Safety Building to be interviewed. Desanctis was found to be in possession of the knife which was believed to have been used in the Assault, he also had blood stained clothes and a laceration to his finger.
The driver of the vehicle admitted to purchasing two bundles of Heroin from Desanctis for a $110 if they would give him a ride to Voorheesville so he could confront the victim who allegedly stole drugs from him. The driver dropped Desanctis off at the end of Pleasant Street in Voorheesville.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Desanctis' apartment and found 410 bags of Heroin with a street value of $4500 and over $3000.
Desanctis was charged with felony Assault, misdemeanor Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and arraigned and remanded to the Albany County Correctional facility without bail.
Desanctis is also facing the following charges out of the Town of Colonie for felony Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, and felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.
