EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. – A local woman was charged Saturday after an investigation showed her claims of being abducted were false.

Denita Yarbrough was reported missing by her boyfriend after failing to return home by 6 p.m. Friday. When she made contact with her boyfriend around 3 a.m. Saturday, she said she was abducted by two men who forced her to drive to a location in Troy.

Troy Police were notified and located the 42-year-old in the Griswold Heights area. An investigation showed discrepancies in Yarbrough's claims. She eventually told police her story was fabricated to explain her time away from home.

Yarbrough was charged with One Count of Falsely Reporting an Incident to Law Enforcement.

She is scheduled to appear in court on March 6.
