SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – State Police arrested a woman Tuesday for allegedly stealing baby formula from a CVS Pharmacy.
Troopers assisted the Regional Market Loss Prevention Investigators from the CVS Pharmacy on Broadway just after 5 p.m. Tuesday with a shoplifting complaint.
Christel McGuire was observed on security cameras placing multiple containers of baby formula in her personal bag and leaving the store without paying. She attempted to cross Broadway where she was stopped by responding Troopers.
McGuire was detained and stated she was seven months pregnant and bought the baby formula at a local Hannaford store. After a brief investigation, McGuire was arrested for Petit Larceny and a search incident yielded two used hypodermic needles. McGuire admitted the needles were used for personal heroin use that morning.
McGuire also had active warrants out of the City of Schenectady and the Town of Rotterdam. She was processed and arraigned in the City of Schenectady Court. McGuire was remanded to the Schenectady County jail on $750 cash or $1,000 bond.
Schenectady County Child Protective Services was contacted and advised of the incident as a precaution.
