COLONIE, N.Y. – The Albany County Sheriff's Office say they have arrested two Troy residents on sex trafficking charges.
According to authorities, a tip about the location of an endangered 21-year-old female led to an investigation. The concerned citizen told authorities that her friend was being forced into prostitution by two subjects in Colonie. Upon investigating, authorities learned the female was being advertised as an escort on the website backpage.com.
Investigators set up a meeting on the website and were directed to the Super 8 Motel on Central Avenue in Colonie. As the investigators met with the female, she gave them information about the two people who were allegedly feeding her heroin addiction while selling her for sex.
A search warrant was executed at a motel room at Super 8 Motel. The Sheriff's Office said they seized 20 bags of heroin and more than $1,800 during the search.
Elijah Richardson and Jakia York, both 19, were arrested at the scene. Both have been charged with felony sex trafficking, felony criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 7th, a misdemeanor and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Richardson and York have been arraigned and remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.
