GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. – A Gloversville man is facing charges after he fled on foot when police say they attempted to place him under arrest.
On Monday morning around 11:30, Gloversville Police say they observed Branden Canty, 29, driving a vehicle in the area of Washington Street. Authorities say an office pulled Canty's vehicle over because they were aware of a Fulton County Grand Jury indictment, charging Canty with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance. The charges stem from a Johnstown Police Department investigation, say police.
Gloversville Officers say that while they were attempting to place Canty under arrest, he resisted and fled on foot. After a foot pursuit, police apprehended Canty, but the man allegedly continued to resist. Authorities were able to place him in custody.
Canty was turned over to Johnstown Police on their indictment. The man will also be charged in Gloversville City Court with Resisting Arrest at a later date.
