GUILDERLAND, N.Y. – Two Troy residents were arrested for multiple thefts from Crossgates Mall.
Guilderland Police responded to an attempted larceny of jewelry from the Macy's department store located at Crossgates. During an investigation it was determined that both suspects did steal an iPad Air and Mophie brand phone case/charger from the Sprint store located in the mall worth a total value of $760.
Further investigation revealed both suspects were also involved in a Grand Larceny that occurred at the J.C. Penney store at Crossgates on February 25 in which $12,292 worth of jewelry was stolen.
Melissa Russell was charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree. She was also found to be in possession of five oxycodone pills and was subsequently charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree.
Scott Cleland was charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Fifth Degree and Attempted Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree.
Both Russell and Cleland were arraigned in Guilderland Town Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail without bail. Both are due back in court on March 6.
