A trio of Saints was honored Monday. Rob Poole was named to the MAAC third team while freshmen Lavon Long and Marquis Wright are two of the conference's top five rookies.
As a junior, Poole earned his 1,000 career point Sunday. He's only the 40th Saint to do so. His ability to pull the ball in the basket has led the Saints for much of the season ranking in the MAAC top 20 in six different categories, including scoring, averaging nearly 15 points per game.
His freshmen teammates also big time contributors this season. Wright will likely become the first freshman to lead the MAAC n assists in at least 20 years. Long is a consistent threat down low reaching double figures 17 times this year.
Siena's Meghan Donohue is also named to the MAAC all-rookie team. She's the Saints first selection in the last eight years. She, like Wright and Long, is eligible to be named the Rookie of the Year. She leads all conference freshmen in field goal percentage and offensive rebounding. She averages about eight points and five boards per game.
Rachel Bowles takes home Conference Player of the Week honors for the second week in a row. The sophomore midfielder recorded a twelve point week behind eight goals and four assists while her teammate Dakotah Savitcheff is named Rookie of the Week.
