CATSKILL, N.Y. – State Police arrested a Catskill woman for Grand Larceny after she fraudulently obtained unemployment benefits.
Christina Merritt was arrested Monday for Third Degree Grand Larceny and First Degree Offering a False Instrument for Filing.
The 36-year-old was arrested in the Town of Cairo after an investigation conducted by the NYS Department of Labor determined Merritt made false statements with respect to her employment status and fraudulently obtaining unemployment benefits from the State of New York totaling $8,826.25.
Merritt was arraigned in the Village of Catskill Court and subsequently released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Cairo Court on March 4.
