SCHOHARIE COUNTY, N.Y. – A man loading buffalo into a cattle trailer was impaled and rushed to a local hospital.

Prior to being loaded onto a cattle trailer on Harraway Road in the Town of Richmondville, the animals were being driven from one field to another, when a man was chased by one of the bison.

In attempt to get away from the charging buffalo, the man started to run, then fell in the snow. The animal attacked the man using his head and horns to impale him.

The other men on the scene were able to get the man to safety and called 911. When the ambulance arrived, he was conscious, although he had difficulty breathing, and was in a lot of pain. Brian Ware, 34, was transported to Albany Medical Center with a puncture wound to the abdomen.

He was later released.
