Police investigating crash that entrapped two people, injuring all three

WINHALL, Vt., - Winhall Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident which injured three people.

According to police, on Friday around 5 p.m.,  Winhall Police and Rescue responded to a two car motor vehicle crash on Vermont Route 11 near Bromley Knolls Road.

As authorities arrived, they saw one vehicle on its side with both occupants entrapped in the vehicle. There was also a second vehicle with severe front end damage, according to police.

Authorities say the Winhall Fire Department and the Londonderry Rescue Squad were able to extricate both operators and the passenger.

All three were taken to the hospital, but one of the drivers sustained serious injuries.

A police investigation revealed the vehicle with the entrapped driver and passenger was stopped on Route 11 signaling a left hand turn, which is when they were allegedly struck from behind at an unknown speed, causing the first vehicle to slide over 100 feet, strike a snow bank and turn on its side.

Winhall Police say that as of Sunday, the three people involved in the crash are in stable condition and have been released from the hospital.  Police are still investigating the incident.

If anyone has information regarding the crash, they are encouraged to contact police at 802-297-2121.
