ALBANY, N.Y.--Fourteen new recruit firefighters will be sworn in by Mayor Kathy Sheehan on Friday.
The recruit firefighters will be sworn in to the Department of Fire and Emergency Services at the Albany City Hall.
"The Albany Fire Department has a long tradition of service to the residents of and visitors to the City of Albany. This new class will be replacing 14 dedicated public servants who have recently retired. It is exciting to welcome the next generation of firefighters to active service," said Mayor Sheehan.
"Dedication to the residents of the City of Albany and professionalism comprise the cornerstone of our membership," said Fire Chief Warren Abriel.
The fourteen new hires will be sworn in at 2 p.m.
