Man arrested for public lewdness at State Museum

ALBANY, N.Y. – New York State Police at the Capital arrested an Albany man Thursday for public lewdness.

Police received a complaint of public lewdness Thursday and arrested Steven Dressel after an investigation.

Dressel, 56, of Albany was arrested and charged with Public Lewdness at the New York State Museum after museum patrons complained that he was acting inappropriately near the Fulton Fish Market Exhibit.

Dressel was processed without incident and was arraigned Thursday at the Town of Guilderland Court where he entered a not guilty plea.

The judge ordered a psychiatric evaluation.

Dressel's arrest was not the first time someone was caught at the State Museum acting inappropriately.

In June 2013, 22-year-old Edward Tubbs was arrested for sexually abusing a six-year-old boy in the bathroom while the boy was on a field trip. Tubbs was later sentenced to four years in prison as part of a plea deal.

At that time, the museum said it would install more security cameras as part of an effort to ensure the museum would remain a safe place for kids.
