Albany man sentenced to 13 years in State Prison

ALBANY, N.Y.--An Albany man was sentenced to 13 years in State Prison for illegally possessing a handgun.

Willie Morris, 33, was found guilty of one Count of Criminal Possessing of a Weapon in the second degree, a felony, on January 10.

Morris was in a large group blocking the sidewalk. When officers asked the group to clear the sidewalk, Morris fled and officers saw him throw a loaded .22 caliber handgun into a yard.

After officers recovered the handgun, investigation revealed that it was reported stolen from the Miami Dade Police Department in September 2011.
