NY makes deal with IBM to keep jobs in upstate

Posted:

ALBANY, N.Y. - Thousands of high-tech jobs will stay in Upstate New York thanks to a deal between the Nano-College and IBM.

More than 2,300 jobs will stay in the Hudson Valley and 750 will be added at semiconductor plants. IBM will also create hundreds of IT jobs at a state-owned hub in Buffalo.

Last year, the company laid off almost 700 people but this deal is expected to delay any further cuts through 2016.
