WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Several witnesses took the stand in the drugged driving trial of Kerry Kennedy Monday.
One witness said he found Kennedy slumped at the steering wheel of her Lexus. Another said he saw her swerve into a tractor-trailer, and she kept driving despite tire damage.
A defense lawyer said Kennedy does not dispute she drove erratically in 2012. He said she accidentally took a sleeping pill instead of her thyroid medication.
Prosecutors said it's up to the jury to decide whether she took the drug accidentally.
Kennedy is the ex-wife of Governor Andrew Cuomo and is the daughter of Robert F. Kennedy.
