Sheriff: Man assaulted woman, held her against her will


MOREAU, N.Y. – A local man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a female and holding her against her will, according to authorities.

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office say Justin Rodriguez, 32, was arrested on Sunday following an investigation into a domestic dispute. They say the incident occurred at 249 Old Saratoga Road in Moreau.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Rodriguez assaulted a female victim and held her against her will. Authorities say he may have been in possession of an unregistered handgun, firearms and a large quantity of marijuana at the residence.

An arrest warrant for the suspect and a search warrant for the Saratoga Road apartment were obtained. During the execution of the search warrant, deputies located and arrested Rodriguez. 

Deputies also say they seized a small quantity of marijuana, a shotgun, a rifle and a quantity of ammunition.  However, no illegal firearms were recovered at the residence. 

Rodriguez was charged with Strangulation 2nd Degree, a felony, misdemeanors Assault 3rd Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, and violation Unlawful Possession of Marijuana.

The Moreau man was arraigned and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
