SCHENECTADY, N.Y.—A benefit for the family whose home burned down earlier this month will take place Thursday.
On February 5, Kenneth Fortuin set fire to the home, cutting down trees and dragging them across the driveway in order to keep firefighters from reaching flames.
Fortuin ended up in a nine-hour standoff with police.
Thursday's benefit was put together by the historic lower union, for Andrea Fortuin and her two teenage children.
The fundraiser will take place at Café Nola on Union Street in Schenectady.
