SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – In New York State, Powerball ticket sales reached $450,000 an hour at noon on Wednesday.
The Powerball jackpot of $400 million will be drawn Wednesday night. The New York Lottery said this is the fourth largest Powerball jackpot and sixth highest lottery prize nationwide.
"We expect sales will continue to increase throughout the day topping off between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. tonight as we approach the close of sales at 9:00 p.m," said Gardner Gurney, Acting Director of the Division of the Lottery.
Even if those who buy a ticket and don't win the jackpot on Wednesday, they should double check their numbers because the second place prize is $1 million.
Saturday's Powerball jackpot was $330.8 million.
