SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.—In its February 2014 newsletter, the Saratoga Springs Downtown Business Associated reported that a majority of its members are opposed to casino expansion in the city.
Only a third of respondents to the survey thought a casino would have a positive impact on the city.
"Many downtown business owners have serious concerns about the impact of a casino resort on their livelihoods," said SAVE Saratoga co-founder Colin Klepetar.
SAVE Saratoga is a grassroots community group that organized last fall to amplify the voice of the 58.2 percent of city residents who voted against a Vegas-style casino resort in Saratoga Springs.
"We understand that our downtown businesses are only as strong as the community that supports them and they are the reason so many people choose to live here and visit here. To show our continued support, we are encouraging the community to spend time and money downtown especially over the next few weeks," said Kleptar.
