Gov. Cuomo supports increasing minimum age to try as adult

Posted:

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Governor Cuomo has given his support to making 18 the minimum age to be tried as an adult in New York criminal court.

The state and North Carolina are the only two states that allow 16 and 17-year olds to be tried as adults.

Cuomo's wish to raise the age comes several months after advocates held a press conference in Albany pushing the legislature to do so.
