State Police: Man arrested back to back


NORTH CHATHAM, N.Y. – State Police say they arrested a man twice within less than 24 hours.

According to State Police, around 10:25 p.m. on Saturday, Edward MacLeod, 43, was arrested. MacLeod is accused of being involved in a physical altercation with a woman at a North Chatham home. State Police say MacLeod physically menaced the victim and then intentionally damaged her phone in order to stop her from calling for help.

MacLeod has been charged with criminal mischief in the 4th, menacing in the 3rd, and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was arraigned and released on his own recognizance.

State Police in Kinderhook say shortly after MacLeod was released, he was seen driving on State Route 203. Troopers were aware of MacLeod's alleged level of intoxication during the previous incident.

MacLeod was pulled over and Trooper's say the man was intoxicated. He was arrested and arraigned in town court before being remanded to Columbia County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail.
