Car crashes into snowplow on Northway, twice

MALTA, NY – On Saturday, two New York State Department of Transportation plow trucks performing snow removal and salting duties were struck less than an hour apart by drivers who were arrested for DWI.

The first accident occurred at 7:36 p.m. on the Northway in the southbound lanes between exits twelve and thirteen when a pickup truck operated by Robert J. Clemente Jr., 26, of Troy, struck the plow truck. The plow truck had its hazard lights activated when Clemente ran into the plow blade, causing the roof of his pickup truck to be sheered off.

Clemente suffered minor injuries and was transported to Glens Falls hospital for treatment. Clemente consented to a blood draw and his blood alcohol concentration is not available at this time. Clemente was arrested for DWI and issued an appearance ticket to appear in Malta town court on a later date. The plow truck operator was not injured.

The second accident occurred at 8:20 p.m. on the Northway in the northbound lanes between exits eleven and twelve when a car ran into the rear of the plow truck. There were no injuries as a result of the accident and the operator of the vehicle that struck the plow truck was arrested for DWI at the scene. The driver's information and blood alcohol concentration is not available at this time.
