Two arrested for alleged welfare fraud


GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – The Washington County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested a pair for alleged welfare fraud.

According to authorities, on Thursday morning, the Sheriff's Office arrested Terry Mattison, 36, Stephanie Mattison, 33 on the charge of Grand Larceny 4th, a felony.

The Sheriff's Office said that the Mattison's were arrested following an investigation by the Washington County Department of Social Services and the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The pair is accused of failing to report income while receiving public assistance benefits.

The Mattison's are accused of receiving $7,010 in benefits they were not entitled to, according to authorities. They were processed and issued appearance tickets to appear in the Town of Fort Edward Court in March.
