Local Marine arrives to an incredible welcome home

Albany, N.Y. - More than 100 people gathered at the Albany International Airport to welcome back Lance Corporal Austin Brozowski. His family and friends hoping to honor his sacrifice and service in a big way.

"We're just really proud of him. It's been a long seven months. We're just happy he'll be united with the family again," said his mom Kelly Brozowski.

Kelly Brozowski of East Greenbush has been awaiting the arrival of her son Lance Corporal Austin Brozowski for seven months. He's been serving in Afghanistan. As she prepares for that reunion so was her son, fixing his marine uniform pockets pressed, boots tied. Seven-year-old Micah was getting ready to welcome his big brother home too.

"I love him and I missed him, said Micah.

With just an hour to go before US Airways flight 4641 arrived with their hero family, friends and even strangers gathered. The Patriot Guard was lined up with flags ready. Next to them World War II and Korean War veterans also supporting Lance Corporal Brozowski.

Finally the moment everyone was waiting for came.

"I really appreciate everyone coming out. This is the best thing that's ever happened to me to be honest. All the support and what not so I can't thank you guys more," said Brozowski.

Overwhelmed and grateful Corporal Brozowski didn't want to forget to thank those veterans who came to stand tall for him and his family.

"I just want to say thank you all for what you do. You're never forgotten just like I'll never be," said Brozowski.

With their hero home, a peace came over the crowd that gathered.

"He's a very spiritual boy and that's what gets him through," said his grandmother Joyce Jones.

"You just got to have faith. A little faith will get you a long way. God is definitely, he's always there," said Brozowski.
