Troy City Council member says Kokopellis should not be closed

Posted:

TROY, N.Y. -- A member of the Troy City Council says the bar where a weekend brawl happened should not be closed.

District 4 councilmember Bob Doherty spoke at the State Liquor Authority meeting on Thursday. The meeting was not open to the public, but he was allowed to make a statement regarding the bar, Kokopellis.

The meeting focused on a complaint filed against the bar, which may be facing violations because of the recent issues.

The SLA says co-owner Barry Glick violated business law by hiring security staff as independent contractors and was unable to maintain order at the business.
