CBA senior signs letter of intent

ALBANY. N.Y. -- A CBA senior will sign his letter of intent to play football at the University at Albany on Thursday.

CBA senior Elliot Croskey signed a letter of intent at a signing ceremony with Athletic Director Blaine Drescher and Head of School James Schlegel present.

"I narrowed it down to a couple schools and UAlbany kind of rose above all the others because it was home," he said.

The recruiting process is a little like dating, and as CBA's Elliot Croskey was narrowing down his choices, Coach Gattuso was closing in on a running back.

"We had three or four running backs, all talented, all caliber kids. At the end of the day we thought Elliot was the best to fit our offense, but also, when you meet him he's a good kid.  Impressed with the more time I spent with him on the visit, jumped out that he was a guy we really wanted," said the coach.

When Croskey will take the field is a different question. There's talk of him red-shirting his freshman year, but that's not a guarantee.

"My whole philosophy has always been to play the best players and we'll see who they are.  Being a freshman doesn't disqualify anybody," said Gattuso.

Croskey has been offered a four-year athletic scholarship to play running back for the Great Danes. The senior running back totaled 1,553 rushing yards, 18 rushing touchdowns, 216 receiving yards, and 2 receiving touchdowns in his senior season.
