GRANVILLE, N.Y. (AP/NEWS10 ABC) - Investigators believe an elderly Granville couple was killed after a fire destroyed their Washington County home.
Firefighters from 16 companies were called early Thursday to the scene about about 65 miles northeast of Albany.
The sheriff's office confirms the elderly couple was killed in the fire. Bill McCullen says the home had belonged to his mother
and Father-in-Law, Levi Martin and Dema Martin -- both lifetime residents of North Granville.
The Washington County Sheriff's Dept. has not yet
confirmed that that the victims of the early morning fire are the Martin's, but autopsies are scheduled for Friday.
There's no indication the fire was suspicious. The cause is still unknown.
Fire officials say snowy conditions likely slowed firefighter response.
