ROTTERDAM, N.Y. – Fresh snowfall fell throughout the Capital Region Wednesday, and for those who braved the slushy roads, they hit the slopes for some fun.
Closed schools and energetic kids made it a great day on the slopes at Maple Ski Ridge.
"It's great," Maple Ski Ridge Ski Tech Ton Payne said. "It's better than sitting home playing video games."
One boy was enjoying his day off from school and encouraged others to try skiing.
"If they really want to try it, and if they keep their heart in it, they'll do fine," he said.
The constant snowfall made conditions ideal on the slopes.
"Fresh powder on top," Payne explained. "The packed powder on top of a really thick man-made base that we have here."
Payne said the snowfall this year has been inconsistent.
"It's been a really weird year because we've had like 10 below zero one weekend, and the next weekend is pushing 60 degrees," he said.
However, the skiers and snowboarders just keep coming to the slopes.
"So far so good," Payne said.
Maple Ski Ridge is open Thursday and Friday from 3–9 p.m. and 9 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday.
