LANSINGBURGH, N.Y. – Snow emergencies were declared throughout the Capital Region on Tuesday and Wednesday, but Lansingburgh residents were left to clear the snow on their own.
Several inches of snow fell throughout the Capital Region Wednesday, and neighbors spent the day clearing cars and sidewalks.
Resident Angela Warner said Lansingburgh hasn't called a snow emergency in years.
"They don't enforce anyone to move their cars, and they let people leave their cars sitting there for days," she said.
Resident Dina Wood said that makes it hard for the snow plows to clear off the streets.
"Get it out of the way, so that the plows can come through," she said.
As the plow trucks come through city streets, snow banks build up on the side of the road making parking even more difficult.
"People parking in the middle of the street because they can't park close enough to the curb," Warner said.
Neighbors said it is up to them to help each other. They move cars to a cleared area and make room for the snow plows – a voluntary snow emergency.
