Police: Two more arrested in connection to Kokopellis incident

TROY, N.Y. – Troy Police say they have arrested two people in connection to the Kokopellis incident on January 25.

According to authorities, they have arrested Zyjee Lind, 19, for allegedly throwing a garbage receptacle cover through the rear window of a Troy Police patrol vehicle. Police say Lind's actions created the "likelihood of physical injury to a Troy Police Officer in the process."

On January 25 at 2:37 a.m., Troy Police were called to the scene of an assault at Kokopellis. As officers arrived, they say a large fight inside the bar was moving outside, which allegedly involved about 100 people.

As police responded, they say the scene became hectic, resulting in the injuries of eight police officers.

Five people were initially arrested, including Roshawon Donley. A video of his arrest shows police using what some in the community call, excessive force.

Lind has been charged with criminal mischief 3rd, reckless endangerment 2nd, reckless endangerment of property and disorderly conduct. Lind was arraigned on Tuesday and released on his own recognizance under the supervision of the Rensselaer County Department of Probation.

A second 19-year-old was also arrested on Tuesday. Troy Police say Dertwan Dantzier has been charged with disorderly conduct.

Troy Police say authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident at Kokopellis.

On Tuesday evening, a public safety committee meeting was held to focus on the brawl involving police at the bar. Many people have called for the resignation of Troy Police Chief John Tedesco.
