VSP investigating wayward shot on Monkton-Vergennes Road


MONKTON, Vt. —Vermont State Police are investigating a wayward shot they believe was intended for a deer but instead hit a mans truck.

A truck stopped and fired a gun on the Monkton-Vergennes Road while a man was working a security detail on Tuesday.

Michael Deforge was working on the road when an occupant of a truck stopped and fired a single shot at a deer that had run across the road. The shot was fired in the direction of Deforge.

According to Deforge, not only was the shot fired in his direction, it also did damage to his car.

The vehicle fled the scene quickly and was last seen traveling northeast.
