Some power down in Troy after car strikes utility pole

TROY, N.Y. - Authorities have confirmed a vehicle has struck a utility pole in Troy, causing a street closure and power outages.

According to Troy Police, the accident took place at the intersection of Spring Avenue and Walker Street.

Five people were trapped in their car after they struck a pole with three transformers. Two adults and three children were in the vehicle.

According to the Troy Fire Chief, they kept the family inside the care until they could get the power cut to the live wires, which fell on the car. He said the transformers narrowly missed the vehicle.

Nearly 900 residents may experience an interruption to their power services but National Grid has been alerted of the issue and is repairing the problem. They has an ETA on restoration for around 11:15 p.m.

No one was injured as a result of this accident.
