ALBANY, N.Y. – The University at Albany Police Department is searching for a man who entered a female student's dorm room Sunday night.
The student told police she woke up around 5:40 a.m. Sunday to find an unknown male in her room engaging in a lewd act. The student yelled out, and the man ran from her room.
Police informed students of the incident through an e-mail and have increased patrols at the Uptown campus. The incident has some students concerned.
"If I was in that position, I'd be scared," one student said.
Police are not releasing the name of the dormitory involved, but they did say there was not a forced entry leading police to urge students to keep their doors locked.
Some students admit they don't always keep their doors locked.
"In the older dorms, they leave it unlocked so friends can come in," a student said.
Other students like Francesca McGuire, however, said they do not want to take any chances.
"I definitely lock my suite door," she said. "All my suitemates lock our doors."
Police said there are no suspects at this time.
