ALBANY, N.Y. -- Two local Kmart's are scheduled to close in the middle of May.
The stores in Latham and Clifton Park will begin liquidation sales on February 23 after not renewing their leases.
"The store has been a corporate partner for 25 years
and we are disappointed Sears Holding Company, parent company of Kmart, has
made this decision. We are particularly concerned with our neighbors
working at the store becoming displaced as the store implements its closing
process," said Clifton Park Town Supervisor, Phil Barrett.
The employees from both stores who are eligible will receive severance and have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other area Sears or Kmart stores.
