Three teens seriously injured in two car accident


KINDERHOOK, N.Y. – Columbia County Sheriffs are investigating a serious two vehicle accident that occurred on Saturday night.

According to the Sheriff's Office, Deputies were dispatched to a two vehicle accident on Maple Avenue around 6:40 p.m. on Saturday.

Upon arrival, Deputy Sheriff's say they found a pick-up truck operated by a 17-year-old male, who was traveling westbound on Maple Lane. For unknown reasons, authorities say the teen traveled over into the eastbound lane, striking another pick-up truck. The second vehicle was being driven by 32-year-old Michael Spellman.

Spellman and his 32-year-old female passenger were taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.

The Sheriff's Office said the 17-year-old male was taken to Albany Medical Center along with two 14-year-old male passengers. All three are being treated for serious injuries and are listed in critical condition.

The accident is under investigation.
