ALBANY, N.Y. – In just 25 days, 3,500 coats were collected during the Katie's Koats drive in Albany County to help the homeless and local veterans.
"I am amazed to see that we have brought in three times the amount of coats we did during our first drive," said Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy. "I'm proud our citizens recognize our homeless veterans need help and answered the call."
Albany County teamed up with PG's Café, Best Cleaners and the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society for the drive.
Collection boxes were set up at the County Office Building at 112 State Street and all Best Cleaners locations throughout the Capital Region. After coats were collected, Best Cleaners cleaned items free of charge.
