Colonie man sentenced for obtaining unentitled Medicaid benefits

ALBANY, N.Y.--A Colonie man was sentenced to five years of Felony Probation in Albany County Court Thursday.
Ahmad Hussain, 29, pleaded guilty to one count of offering a False Instrument for Filing in the first degree, a felony, on December 6, 2013. Hussain was required to complete 300 hours of community service and pay restitution in the amount of $23,624.31 back to the Albany County Department of Social Services.
Between November 1, 2010 and November 1, 2012, Hussain obtained $23,624.31 in Medicaid benefits that he was not entitled to receive. Hussain concealed his employment and income to recertify his eligibility for the Medicaid benefits.
Hussain previously paid approximately $21,000 of the restitution when he pleaded guilty and paid the remaining amount on Thursday.
