SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – A Saratoga Springs business woman attended the State of the Union address in Washington, D.C. Tuesday night.
Marianne Barker and her husband opened the shop, Impressions, about 36 years ago. They sell everything from art work to clothing – most with a Saratoga flare.
Barker said she's been an active member of the business community and had worked with Congressman Paul Tonko. She said she received a call from Tonko inviting her to the State of the Union last week.
Tonko told her he selected Barker to be his guest because of her dedication to Saratoga Springs.
Barker is a long-time resident of the Spa City, and she hoped President Obama would mention small business in his address.
Maddy Zanetti is a managing partner at Impressions and was also excited to for Barker to attend the State of the Union.
Barker said that whether you agree or disagree with the President's policies, having the opportunity to see the State of the Union in person is a really cool experience.
