ALBANY N.Y. - State Lawmakers continue their work finalizing the budget, which begins on the first of April.
A joint legislative budget hearing was held in the legislative office building on Monday. Mayors from around the state made their way to Albany to be part of the meeting.
First up was New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio, who took questions on a host of issues, from universal pre-k to taxes.
Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan also testified, telling the panel she needed more state aid because property owners couldn't afford a tax hike.
Legislators have until March 31st to approve a budget for it to be considered on-time.
