ALBANY, N.Y. -- A meeting
is set for Monday night to discuss the issue of having heavy crude oil
transported through residential neighborhoods in the Albany area.
The issue came to light
following plans to build a new heating facility at the Port of Albany.
Global Companies wants to
build it to make transporting the thick petroleum easier, but the composition
of the oil and its explosive properties are major concerns for the South End residents.
The meeting is set to
address those health and safety concerns, and begins at 5:30 p.m. on South
341 Northern Blvd.,
Albany, NY 12204
