NEWTONVILLE, N.Y.-- As part of the upcoming American Heart Month, representatives of the Town of Colonie's EMS department will join other local officials at a press event at Shaker to announce free CPR training.
The event is designed to highlight awareness of the "hands-only" CPR technique and will take place at Shaker High School Auditorium at 10:00 a.m. Monday.
Colonie EMS have provided free hands-only training for the town's high school students for years to try and train as many people as possible in a simple lifesaving technique.
"Our students and staff have appreciated the opportunity to partner with the Colonie EMS. We currently have students who volunteer as part of the EMS support in the Town of Colonie. By bringing EMS personnel into our classes we have provided our students with real skills and community awareness around life-saving measures," said Shaker High School Principal Richard Murphy.
