Albany man charged in Delmar bank robbery

DELMAR, N.Y. – Bethlehem Police have arrested an Albany man in connection to a bank robbery in Delmar.

On Thursday, January 23, the Bethlehem Police Department arrested Darriel D. Murray, 21, of Albany, for the bank robbery that occurred at the Citizens Bank, 180 Delaware Ave., Delmar on Tuesday, January 14.

Murray was arrested after Bethlehem Police Detectives received information that he was attempting to exchange dyed money at the SEFCU bank in Albany. With the assistance of Albany Police Department's CIU, search warrants were executed at his residence and on his vehicle where a substantial amount of evidence was seized.

He was charged with felony Robbery in the first degree, Grand Larceny in the fourth degree, and misdemeanor Criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree.

Murray was arraigned in Bethlehem Town Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to return to Bethlehem Town Court on January 28, 2014, at 5:30 p.m. for a Preliminary Hearing.
