Senator Ball to introduce unmanned aircraft legislation

ALBANY, N.Y.--Senator Greg Ball will introduce a bill that will allow the use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems for both commercial and law enforcement use in New York State.

Senator Ball's bill will create specific lawful uses for unmanned aircraft, as well as preventing unmanned aircraft from being improperly used by individuals, organizations, and state agencies. The bill will create two new crimes, the illegal use of an unmanned aircraft to capture images and the offense of possessing or distributing the image.

According to The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, during the first three years of integration, unmanned aircraft systems will create more than 70,000 jobs in the United States including an economic impact of more than $13.6 billion.
