TROY, N.Y. – Two girls were taken to the hospital Sunday night after one of them was struck by a car.
A group of four girls was crossing the street around 9 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Hoosick Street and 10th Street when a car headed westbound on Hoosick Street failed to yield to the girls and hit one of them.
Troy Police said a teen was thrown onto the hood of the car and then rolled onto one of her friends. The 10- and 13-year-old girls received minor injuries and were taken to Albany Medical Center for precautionary measures.
The driver of the vehicle stopped after the accident and stayed at the scene. He was cited for failing to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk.
Police said speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident.
