ALBANY, N.Y. -- The Albany County Sheriff's office has arrested an Albany resident for drug possession, possession cigarettes without New York State Tax Stamps and trademark counterfeiting charges.

Back in the fall of 2013, sheriff's investigators received a complaint from area businesses that unstamped cigarettes were being sold out of a business located on Central Avenue in the City of Albany.

The Albany County Sheriff's Criminal Investigation Unit, along with agents from the Division of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, and Investigators from New York State Department of Taxation and Finance conducted a three month long investigation into the sale of unstamped cigarettes at this location. During the investigation, investigators purchased unstamped cigarettes for $8 per pack.

The investigation culminated with the execution of a search warrant on Thursday, January 16, at the store where investigators located more than 22 cartons of unstamped cigarettes. Additionally, Investigators recovered counterfeit clothing, over 500 counterfeit CD's and DVD's, 51 grams of marijuana and Suboxone, a controlled substance used to treat opiate dependency, and 54 Hydrocodone tablets. Also located in in the rear of the business was a small Bootleg CD and DVD processing lab.
