Man pleads not guilty to murder charge connected to estranged wife's death

LAKE LUZERNE, N.Y. - The Niskayuna man accused of stabbing his wife to death on Christmas Eve pleaded not guilty on Wednesday.

Clifford Burns, 46, is facing felony charges of murder and assault.

 According to police, Burns stabbed his estranged wife, 42-year-old Patricia Burn, multiple times on Christmas Eve. He also injured his 22-year-old step-daughter when she allegedly tried to intervene.

Patricia Burns was pronounced dead at Glens Falls Hospital.

After the attack, police said Clifford Burns led them on a brief car chase in Lake George that ended in the parking lot of the Warren County Sheriff's Office.

 Officials say Burns faces a maximim sentence of 25 years to life on the murder charge.
