Senator pushes for $35 million to be released for home heating

Posted:

ALBANY, N.Y. -- Senator Schumer plans to make changes as bitter cold causes some of upstate New York's most frigid temperatures.

Schumer is trying to urge the Department of Health and Human Services to immediately release over $35 million in funds from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program in order to help residents.

Schumer will explain in a Thursday press conference the benefits of releasing the money and reveal county by county data on the number of LIHEAP recipients in the state and the amount of funding each county has received.
