7th graders make history in poetry event

St.Louis, MO —The 7th Grade Poetry Foundation will make history again in 2014.

The 2014 7th grade poetry contest has over 17,000 students from 228 schools already registered for the main event on April 16, 2014.

The event will take place at the Missouri History Museum in St.Louis.

Registration for the program is free and open to all schools. A poetry lesson is provided this year that exceeds the Common Core State Standards.

Winning poets will be published in an anthology that is donated to the student and school as well as a cash prize and the opportunity to be featured in a filmed poetry-reading event and awards ceremony.

The founder, Aaron Williams, believes "Anyone can write a great poem and everyone deserves that chance."
