ALBANY, N.Y. – Two Albany men have pleaded guilty to criminal possession of a weapon in connection to a September shooting in the city.
Hector Balls, 23, and La-Meik Taylor, 24, each pleaded guilty to one count of felony Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second-degree in the Supreme Court of Albany County on Tuesday morning.
According to police, on September 12, 2013 on South Pearl Street, both co-defendants approached the victim and began to argue with him. Balls, who was armed with a handgun, discharged the weapon into the air. The victim grabbed at the gun to prevent it from discharging further as Taylor repeatedly punched the victim.
As the victim tried to flee, Taylor pursued the victim with the handgun and fired several shots towards him, striking him in the rear.
Balls and Taylor each face up to 12 years in state prison when sentenced on March 4, 2014.
